A breakdown gets an engineer out as quickly as we can get one to you, and because you’re ringing a local firm rather than a national call centre, the person who answers can actually tell you when that will be.

Not every firm means the same thing by a boiler service, so here’s exactly what ours involves: the casing comes off, the burner and heat exchanger are inspected along with the ignition, fan, seals and condensate trap, the flue is tested and a flue gas analysis run to check the boiler is burning cleanly and efficiently, the gas and system pressures and the expansion vessel are checked, the magnetic filter is cleaned where one is fitted, and you get a written record at the end. It takes the best part of an hour. If someone has been in and out of your house in fifteen minutes, your boiler has been looked at, not serviced.

On the repair side, we fault-find rather than guess. Loss of pressure, lockouts, no hot water, radiators stone cold downstairs, a boiler that bangs and rumbles like a kettle — the same few symptoms can have a dozen different causes, and swapping parts until something works is an expensive way of finding the right one. Our engineers diagnose first, tell you what it is, and quote before any repair is done.
