If your home isn’t on mains gas, it’s probably heated by oil or LPG, and you may already have found that a lot of heating engineers won’t work on either. Oil needs OFTEC registration, and LPG needs its own qualification on top of Gas Safe. Many heating firms have neither.
We have both. Plumbusters is OFTEC registered for installing, commissioning, servicing and repairing oil-fired boilers, and our gas engineers hold the LPG qualification for houses, flats and residential park homes. We’ve been working on boilers for over 30 years, across Kent, London, Essex, East Sussex, Surrey and Berkshire.

Oil boiler servicing
Combustion analysis, a new filter, a new nozzle when needed, baffles cleaned and the burner set to the manufacturer’s figures. The tank and fuel line are checked too, and you get the readings in writing.
Oil breakdowns & lockouts
Fault finding and repairs on burners, pumps, photocells and controls. Lockouts are usually the nozzle, the filter or the photocell. The repair is priced once we’ve found the fault, before any work starts.
Oil boiler replacement
Like-for-like replacements and new Grant and Worcester Bosch oil boilers. The fuel line, filter and fire valve are checked at the same time, and you get a fixed written quote.
LPG heating
Servicing, breakdowns and new boilers on bulk tank and bottled LPG, including residential park homes. The regulator, hoses and pipework are checked as well as the boiler.
Landlords
Annual gas safety records (CP12) for LPG-heated lets, and an annual oil service by an OFTEC registered engineer, with the paperwork your letting agent will ask for.

Oil or LPG: what’s the difference for us?
An oil boiler burns kerosene from a tank outside, and working on one needs OFTEC registration. Most of the job is setting the burner up properly: an oil boiler with a badly adjusted burner uses more fuel than it needs to.
An LPG boiler is usually the same make and model you’d see on mains gas, set up for a different gas at different pressures, with the gas stored at your property in a tank or cylinders. That storage side is what the extra LPG qualification covers, so the regulator, hoses and pipework get looked at properly on every visit.
Is there an oil boiler ban?
No. No phase-out date has been set for oil boilers, and you can replace yours like-for-like with a new oil boiler. A heat pump can suit some homes, particularly well-insulated ones, but it’s a bigger job and usually costs more to put in, even with the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant. If you’re weighing the two up, ask us.
