Cookie policy

This page explains what cookies are, which ones this website uses and how you can control them. It should be read together with our privacy policy.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your computer or phone. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences and to provide information to the website owner. Some websites also use similar technologies, such as local storage, which store small amounts of information in your browser in much the same way. In this policy we use the word "cookies" to cover all of these.

Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by another organisation through that website are called third-party cookies.

Your cookie choice

You can accept or decline optional cookies here at any time. Your choice is remembered in your browser, and declining does not change how the website works.

The cookies we use

Strictly necessary

These are needed for the website to work and cannot be switched off. They do not need your consent.

  • Cookie choice (pb-analytics-consent). Stored in your browser’s local storage when you accept or decline optional cookies, so that we do not ask you again. Kept until you clear your browser data or change your choice on this page. Only used when optional cookies are offered.

  • Security check (Cloudflare Turnstile). When you send a website form, Cloudflare runs a short check to confirm you are not an automated program. It may store a small amount of information in your browser for the time it takes to complete the check.

  • Live chat (3CX). If live chat is available on the site, the chat window may store a small amount of information in your browser so that your conversation stays open as you move between pages.

Optional: analytics

These help us understand how visitors use the website so that we can improve it. They are only set if you accept them. If you decline, or do nothing, they are not set.

  • Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*). Set by Google when you accept analytics cookies. These give each browser a random identifier so that Google can tell us how many people visit, which pages they look at and roughly where they are. They last for up to 2 years. Google’s own privacy policy explains how it handles this information.

If we have not switched Google Analytics on, the cookie banner will not appear and no optional cookies are used at all. The control above tells you which applies.

Our own statistics (no cookies)

Separately from any optional cookies, our website keeps its own simple visitor statistics. These work without cookies and store nothing on your device. Each visit is counted using a one-way code that changes every day and cannot be turned back into your details, so the statistics cannot identify you or follow you between websites. They are used only by us and are deleted after around 13 months.

Managing cookies in your browser

As well as using the control on this page, you can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Every browser is slightly different, so look in its help section for instructions. Bear in mind that blocking all cookies may stop some websites working properly. Independent information about cookies and how to manage them is available at allaboutcookies.org.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page if the cookies we use change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
