    Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if I smell gas?

First priority: don't ignore it! Open windows and doors, don't use switches/lights/matches, leave the property straight away, and call the National Gas Emergency Service free on 0800 111 999 immediately. Once it's safe, give us a call — we're Gas Safe registered and can come out quickly to sort any follow-up repairs.

What if it's a blocked drain or toilet — can you try and fix it yourself?

You can have a go with a plunger for minor blockages, but if it's really bad (water backing up, multiple drains affected, foul smells), stop and call us. We can high-pressure jetting equipment and cameras to sort it quickly without making a bigger mess.

My boiler pressure keeps dropping or is showing zero – is this urgent?

Yes, especially in winter! No pressure usually means no heating or hot water. It’s often a leak somewhere in the system, but don’t keep topping it up endlessly – that’s just delaying the problem. Call us out; we’ll pressure test, find the leak and get you back up and running.

Do we cover gas emergencies as well as plumbing?

Yep, absolutely. Our engineers are fully Gas Safe registered, so we handle gas leaks (after the initial emergency service has made it safe), boiler breakdowns, faulty gas hobs/cookers, and other gas-related emergencies.

What should you do before the emergency plumber arrives?
    • For water leaks/burst pipes → find your stopcock (usually under the kitchen sink or near the meter) and turn off the water supply.
    • For gas → shut off the gas at the meter.
    • Mop up what you can safely, but don't try risky DIY fixes — leave it to us!
What if I’ve got water coming through the ceiling – what do I do right now?

Turn off your main stopcock immediately to stop the flow (usually under the kitchen sink or near your water meter). If you know where the leak’s coming from upstairs (like a bathroom or airing cupboard), turn off any isolating valves there too. Then give us a call.
